LGC Gets Physical!

The spirit of sportsmanship lives on! It was a blast of excitement as the Lina Group of Companies (LGC) Sportsfest kicked off at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila last June 20, 2010. It was a convergence of cheerleading, sports events, and camaraderie among the LGC employees.
 


Indeed, “being healthy is everything”, says Sylvia P. Lina during her opening remarks.
 


Vincent Dacanay and Rutchel Claro of Airfreight 2100 hosted the event. The San Jose Marching Band spearhead the parade of athletes and muses. Vicky Villarosa of LCSI headed the invocation, while Sheila Lina led in the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. Guest speaker Ms. Patricia Hizon talked about TEAMWORK that served as an acronym for talent, enthusiasm, accountability, management, work-able, openness, respect, and keenness.
 


To perk everyone up, Joseph Alvarado of Ekonek led the warm-up exercise. Company presidents officially opened the sportsfest through the ceremonial lighting of the torch starting off with Presidents Donna May Lina-Flavier of UBE Media and Efren “Jojo” Laviña of Expert Link, and ended with the Lina Group Chairman Alberto D. Lina. Afterwards, Bertha Lina led the Oath of Sportsmanship.
 


The LGC Sportsfest was composed of five teams, namely Purple Team (Airfreight 2100), White Team (Airfreight 2100), Red Team (IWMI, WARM, LCSI, Linafarms, Ekonek, Expert Link, and NMM), Green Team (U-Freight, U-Ocean, Cargohaus, LGC Logistics, and LCTT), and Yellow Team (DOS-1, UBE Media, Mail and More, and Asian FX).
 


A cheerleading competition between the Purple Team and the Yellow Team spiced up the crowd's excitement following the sports events played by the different delegates from each group. The Purple Team, which was under the Airfreight 2100, graced over the Yellow Team that banners the Makati group.
 


Raffle draws gave lucky attendees sports apparatus to keep up with their healthy lifestyle.

And to cap off the event, the Green Team was proclaimed as the over-all champion bearing the most awards in the competition.
